- You feel unfulfilled in the corporate world:
It often starts out as a boredom- a lack of a sense of purpose lost between spreadsheets, pointless meetings and PowerPoint presentations. You find The monotony of the daily grind ultimately mind numbing and soul destroying. The same commute, the same packed train and dreary faces, the long 9-5 hours(if you’re lucky) taking up all of your precious time, all of your best youthful years. The grey walls of the office, the rule books and procedures for every process. The reactive nature of corporate life, constantly following a guideline of personal developments and reviews- being told which mould you fit and whether that means you’ve made the cut. The water fountain discussions with hundreds of colleagues who are just as dissatisfied as you but even more pessimistic as they have accepted this for their life and don’t plan to actively pursue escape. You are the new rich and you want to be in control of your work and your time. You can’t help but sit at the shackles of your desk scribbling down ideas, projects and colourful plans. You know that as long as you work in a corporate box, regardless of the nature of the job, these aspects will always suffocate and crush your true being. And that is why you relentlessly push your own hustle in whatever spare hours you can find.
- You try new things and often risk failure
You are not happy with being mediocre in any aspect of life. You understand that in order to obtain anything worth having, you must live constantly outside your comfort zone and do things you have never done before. This involves huge life risks: leaving jobs, investing large amounts of cash, trusting your gut feelings. This also may often result in failure, which you have accepted. You know that it is better to take a risk and fail 100 times to succeed once, than it is to not fail at all. Playing it safe does not fit into your remit.
- Intuition plays a large part in decision making
You are in touch with your inner desires. You trust gut feelings and intuition even when there is not yet tangible proof. Your decisions are mostly based on careful calculations and due dilligence, but ultimately you go with your heart as a final decision maker.
- You are easily bored
This is why the corporate world is a pool of boringness. You value variety and crave flavour, differentiation and chopping and changing. Ideas come to you often, so often you have to hold yourself back to not get carried away. You can feel your mind slowly turning to mush at the thought of focus on just one thing for the next 10 years. You might even change job / industry every year or so. This is because your skill doesn’t lie deeply and narrowly in a specific profession or field, but with bigger pictures. With life-changing, money making, problem solving projects that you like to orchestrate and own.
- You make lots of mistakes and learn from them
You are trying to manage things across many many skill sets. marketing, operations, PR, sales, finance, accounting. Of course where necessary you pay people to do the job for you, but inevitably mistakes will be made. Trying to things means exploring untapped areas, of course you learn with time how to be faster, better and commercially savvy.
- You enjoy living a high quality of life, and don’t necessary pay full price for everything
You like the high life. You weren’t put on this earth to not enjoy the fruitful and beautiful things it offers. Pastimes include travel, sports, nice cars, a good standard of personal grooming. Being a commercially savvy new rich character, you also know that you don’t have to pay full price for anything these days. You negotiate for anything and everything, always making sure you have shopped around and got the best possible deal.
- You are always learning, looking for ways to improve and working on your mindset
Books and seminars play an important part in your life. You are aware of the power of your mind and mindset at a higher level. You have learned from great authors and have a hunger and desire to continue to keep yourself motivated. You know that you can never learn too much and are interested in books that empower and teach you more about getting the most out of life.
- You work towards delegating and automating your affairs to mitigate as much reliance on them as possible
You are not a small details implementer. You know your time can be best spent strategising, coming up with product and campaign ideas and review financials (on a broad level, profit and loss). You are able to trust a power team to get things done for you. As a new rich member, you Know you are not on this earth to work yourself to death. Rather you prefer to spend time on your favourite activities and hobbies, spending time with family and friends. Your health is Very important to you and
- You are a global citizen
you are not bound by time or space- your work can be completed from anywhere in the world and you often enjoy immersing yourself in a different culture.
- You are often eccentric
You have your own quirky / different traits about you. Maybe you like spending time alone, or have a special sense of humor. Maybe you have your own way of doing a certain thing. People generally accept that you are not like other people and have a certain “Je ne sais quois” about you.
- You don’t react well to authority
Because you know that you are the director of your life and your destiny you have a very distinct way of going about things. You plan your time and your activities according to your personal day and don’t like people messing with it. Enter authority. They may expect you to drop everything and take their orders there and then, they may dictate your whole day, or tell you what your doing well and what you can improve upon. This is all bull shit to you and sucks your sense of self esteem. You find being told what to do very patronising and annoying, especially when you actually have to do it. You struggle to listen to authority when you don’t respect their credibility.
